Intentional Foundation (“we”, “our”, or “us”) operates the Foundation mobile application and web service (the “Service”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Service.

Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your name and email address through our authentication provider, Clerk. We do not store your password directly; authentication credentials are managed securely by Clerk.

Habit and Activity Data

We store the habits you create, including titles, schedules, daily completion logs, streak data, points, and badges. This data is essential to providing the habit-tracking features of the Service.

Goals

We store goals you set, including titles, statuses, target dates, and time horizons.

Reflections and Journal Entries

We store daily reflections, including mood ratings and free-text journal entries. We also store daily intentions and related questions.

Profile Information

You may optionally provide personal priorities, a life summary, personal ideology, key truths, and AI coaching voice preferences. This information is used to personalize your experience.

Board Members

You may create a personal advisory board within the app, including names, roles, and reasons. This data is stored to provide the advisory board feature.

Payment Information

If you subscribe to premium features, payment processing is handled by Polar and Stripe. We do not store your full credit card number or payment method details. We receive and store your Polar customer ID, subscription ID, and subscription status to manage your premium access.

Automatically Collected Information

We may collect standard technical information such as device type, browser type, operating system, and IP address through standard web server logs. This information is used for security, troubleshooting, and service improvement.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the habit-tracking Service
  • Generate AI-powered daily intentions and personalized coaching
  • Track your streaks, points, badges, and progress
  • Process payments and manage subscriptions
  • Communicate with you about your account or the Service
  • Ensure the security and integrity of the Service

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate the Service. Each has its own privacy policy governing the use of your information:

  • Clerk — Authentication and user account management
  • Convex — Database and backend infrastructure
  • OpenAI — AI-powered daily intentions and coaching features
  • Polar / Stripe — Payment processing for premium subscriptions
  • Vercel — Web application hosting

Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We share your information only with the third-party service providers listed above, solely for the purpose of operating the Service. We may also disclose your information if required by law or to protect our rights, safety, or the rights and safety of others.

Data Retention

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. You may reset or delete your data at any time through the Settings page within the app. Upon account deletion, we will remove all associated personal data from our systems within a reasonable timeframe.

Data Security

We take the security of your data seriously. All data transmitted between your device and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS. Your data is stored on secured servers provided by Convex. Authentication is managed by Clerk using industry-standard security practices. While no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data through the app Settings or by contacting us
  • Export your data (available as a premium feature within the app)
  • Opt out of AI coaching features by adjusting your profile settings

Children's Privacy

Our Service is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a child under 13 without parental consent, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
